Front-load vs. Top-load?
Space is the big determiner when selecting these machines. For small spaces, consider “front-loaders,” because you can stack the dryer on top. Front-loaders use about 21 gallons on average for a wash cycle. High-efficiency top-loaders use about 25 gallons, while old style washers use over 40 gallons during a single load.
Front-loaders generally take longer to run a load through a regular wash cycle. Today’s machines allows for about seven loads a week or seven in a day. On average, with good maintenance a machine should last about 10-15 years.
What to look for in a dryer
Your clothes dryer carries a lot of weight on its shoulder and needs to be in top condition to do its job efficiently. You’ll want to consider:
- Gas or electric
- Capacity – full or compact
- Performance- how quickly will it dry, quiet running
- Special Features- wrinkle shield, energy star rated
What features should you look for?
Washers and dryers are some of the hardest working appliances in your home. Look for long lasting features to give you plenty of years of clean clothes. Great products will work for you and not against you.
- Stainless steel tub or plastic
- Space requirements
- Drying times
- Heavy Duty Machines
- Location- first floor, basement, apartment, condo
- Smart machines that connect to your smartphone
At Garner Appliance and Mattress, we take the guesswork out of the appliance search and guarantee to help you select the right products for your family.
