Front-load vs. Top-load?
Space is the big determiner when selecting these machines. For small spaces, consider “front-loaders,” because you can stack the dryer on top. Front-loaders use about 21 gallons on average for a wash cycle. High-efficiency top-loaders use about 25 gallons, while old style washers use over 40 gallons during a single load.
Front-loaders generally take longer to run a load through a regular wash cycle. Today’s machines allows for about seven loads a week or seven in a day. On average, with good maintenance a machine should last about 10-15 years.
What to look for in a dryer
